Melissa to present at SIETAR Polska Congress

Next month, Melissa will present at SIETAR Polska.

We invite you to join us at this year’s SIETAR Polska Congress, which will take place online February 19 - 20, 2021 on Central European Time. While we regret that we cannot join in person, as it would have been a pleasure to return to Poland, we applaud the Congress team for being resourceful and creative in their pivot to a Zoom format. The theme “Identities in Uncertain Times” is quite relevant, as many challenging issues have emerged and the uncertainties of 2020 have not yet receded.

As the committee explains,

“We’d like this Congress to be an opportunity to create a space for exchange and knowledge in a period where our identities, individual and collective ones, are facing instability and sudden changes. We’d like the Congress to be a moment to experience sharing & learning for all intercultural professionals and enthusiasts, who are observers of today’s reality and want to better understand how the context we live in is impacting people’s behaviours and attitudes.”

I am honored and eager to participate in this effort, and am looking forward to our session, “How to adapt to a new culture without losing your identity? An introduction to the Global Dexterity Method,” which will be delivered with my Polish colleague, Kinga Białek on February 19 from 5:30 - 6:45 pm, CET. As we explained in our proposal,

“We invite you to the 60’ online workshop “How to adapt to a new culture without losing your identity”, which is an introduction to the Global Dexterity Method. What does it mean to be a global worker and a true “citizen of the world” today? In reality, it means you are able to adapt your behaviour to conform to new cultural contexts without losing your authentic self in the process. Not only is this difficult, it’s a frightening prospect for most people and something completely outside their comfort zone.

For almost a year, we have been offering an online course Global Dexterity Train the Trainer Program, which offers coaches and trainers the tools that they need to help clients to adapt behaviour to new cultural contexts without losing themselves in the process. Based on more than a decade of research, teaching, and consulting with managers and executives around the world, this course reveals an approach to adapting while feeling comfortable – an essential skill that enables you to switch behaviours and overcome the emotional and psychological challenges of doing so.

During our workshop, we would like share some insights from the Global Dexterity Method and some information about the Global Dexterity Train the Trainer Program. During this 60 min session participants will reflect on their one specific cross-cultural experience, through the lenses of Global Dexterity Method, using the first step from the Method – which is "diagnosing your cultural code".

We encourage those who are interested in attending to please register for the Congress on the SIETAR Polska website, Online Congress 2021 | Join us — SIETAR Polska. We hope to see you there!
